Create A Game Web Site
Friday, February 11th, 2011The World Wide Web can be an excellent gaming zone. Gaming websites are a big hit. If hosted properly, a website with games can generate a lot of revenue.
Any website first begins with the planning of content. Next, the outline of the WebPages and navigation of the site is determined. Once this is done, the website is registered with a domain. A sound knowledge of HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is recommended for this process. To begin designing the games, knowledge of high-end programming languages is not necessary.
The first stage of creating a game is to chalk out its idea with pen and paper. The key is to start simple. In the planning phase, characters, progression, storyline etc. are decided in detail. There is no harm in experimenting, but it is advisable to begin with an existing game or genre and add variations. The next step is to create the game on the computer. This can be done with the help of Rapid Application Development (RAD) Tools. There are many free tools available online. To create a game a person may have to learn a simple programming or scripting language.
After a game has been created, it should be tested. This is called the tweaking phase. Tweaking involves playing the game a number of times to ensure that it functions the way it was meant to. If possible, arrange for a ‘control-group’ to check if the game is user-friendly and interesting. Advanced feature like graphics and sound can be added and changed at this stage. It is advisable to keep a number of copies of the original game as a backup. This will ensure that none of the original work is lost in case any problem arises.
Once the game is ready it should be uploaded onto the website. The website must be monitored to ensure that the game functions smoothly and is well liked by the audience.
